SEASON 4 (2K17)

"THE COMEBACK SEASON"

This season started with a redraft as everyone finally seemed committed to getting the league back to where it should be. We began with about 20 guys during the draft, and slowly rebuilt through the addition of some great sim players. Sasha brought with him 3 guys, Jsned brought a guy with him, and recruiting as a whole has stepped up again. We even have guys on the waitlist again! In regards to gameplay, this season was extremely competitive and active, and in the process hella trash talk ensued. This allowed everyone to enjoy the chat more and develop more camaraderie. Pels will always hit you with the meme, X2 will always lowkey start stuff, and Kobe will always be in the thick of the arguments.

We saw the West completely destroy the East in the regular season, with all 1-8 seeds in the playoffs having over 17 wins, whereas the East was much more top heavy with X2, Drummond, and JSmoove. In terms of trading, this season probably had the most trade talk ever, and the amount that stars moved was incredible, even to the point where we now have trade restrictions. Still not sure how Kobe ended up with PG13 and AD. Other key innovations with the league for this season was the addition of the forum, which has provided super useful, and updates to the website. We can all thank Meaks for that.

As the playoffs began, there was a clear idea that X2 was coming out of the East, but the West was completely up for grabs… even to the point where we had our first 8 seed upset a 1 seed in the history of MLBA in Ematt taking down reigning champ Mario. Ematt almost had a historical run to the finals, but took a quick L to the Jazz in the WCF… and proceeded to rage quit the league LOL. As good of a SIM player he was, he had a horrible personality and the league is better off without him. Nonetheless, the finals were exactly as most predicted with the Jazz (TNT) going up against the Hawks (X2), and promptly the Hawks came out on top HANDILY… bringing out the brooms in the finals. For as much depth as the West has, I’m not sure anyone in the West can take down Dame/Klay in a 5 game series. X2 had a great playoff run, not losing A SINGLE GAME in the whole postseason. Dominant performance, and finally came through on my predictions.

Congratulations to the Season 4 Champion of MLBA, X2! Soon to be added to the Hall of Champions.

Season 4 Owner Awards (Courtesy of Ocho and Mario):

Best Overall Season: X2 (Hawks) – Even looking at the regular season, you can make a case for this award, but the fact that he didn’t lose a game the whole playoffs solidified this honor for X2.

Biggest Disappointment (Overall): Mario (Blazers) – First round exit as a 1 seed… not a good look. He was extremely disappointed, as was the rest of the league, because the former champ had much bigger aspirations.

Biggest Disappointment (Regular Season): Braxy (Wolves) – He had a string of inactivity, and thus kept him out of the playoffs even though I believe he has the skill to make a run given the right matchups. And with Kawhi, anything is possible. Look out for him in S5.

Most Active: Mr2kAllDay (Pels) – This season, we had a whole lot of super active dudes, but I have never seen a guy around so much in the chat and on 2k until Pels. He really contributed to the camaraderie of the league and instigated a lot of the trash talk.

Best Newcomer (Middle of the season): JSmoove (Wizards) – JSmoove came in the middle of the season with the huge wave of new guys, and immediately proved to be a good player. He extended this talent all the way to the ECF. He has a bright future in the league to eventually compete with X2, and a great roster as well. Jsneddy and ArmyofChamptions were also in contention.

Most Cursed Team: OKC Thunder (Now owned by Devil). OKC was a black hole for a lot of the season. Had a great roster with Harden at the helm, but owners were either inactive or unsim. We finally found a great owner in Devil, and hopefully he lasts a long time.

Best Trade: AD to Lakers – Kobe took advantage of the flurry of trading and somehow managed to flip PG13 for AD, and them somehow get PG13 back a few trades later. Roster configuration on point, and that’s a huge deal in a SIM league. X2 acquiring Klay was also in consideration, because he got a damn steal.

Worst Trade: Kristaps Porizingis to Bucks – Drummond essentially played catch-up to X2 after X2 teamed Dame and Klay up. Teaming up KP and Blake Griffin seemed like a good idea on paper, mainly because he thought he could flip Blake for a guard, but he couldn’t and was stuck with two big men that can’t really play D, and this bit Drummond in the playoffs.

Most Trades: BigLew (Mavs) – You already know who receives this honor with a whopping 19 trades for the season.
